Cockpit Tent

The cockpit tent is designed along the lines of a dome style backpacking tent. The poles are Easton T9. They fit into holes in HDPE blocks just below the rub rail.

The tent is sewn from 2.2 oz ripstop and attaches to the poles with tent clips. The forward end of the tent attaches to the mast and stays. The aft end attaches to the raised rudder.

The tent really saved us on an 8 day trip to the San Juan Islands. I can't imagine an extended trip in the northwest without it. After our trip, we decided on a few improvements. I'll post them along with some better pics when I'm done.

The clips slide easily along the poles, so the tent can be moved to one side without tearing it down. Here is a photo of the tent poles - the tent is visible just below the port backrest. For even better boat access, the poles can be popped out on one side and left pointing straight up. Even then, it's only about a minute for two people to have the tent fully deployed. Thats Sandy on the left and Steve, a sailor we met on Sucia Island. The dog is Steve's really nice Schipperke.
